What is Yin Yoga?
Yin yoga is based in a Taoist tradition. It focuses on passive, seated postures that target the connective tissues in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Poses are held for anywhere between one and 10 minutes. The aim is to increase flexibility and encourage a feeling of release and letting go. It is a wonderful way to learn the basics of meditation and stilling the mind. As such, it is ideal for athletic types who need to release tension in overworked joints, and it is also good for those who just want or need to relax.
Ann's Style of Yin
Whether it’s a training day or a rest day, this 1-hour class will improve overall range of motion and flexibility in shoulders, chest, back, hips and legs. This quiet and highly therapeutic practice stimulates the deep, connective tissues of the body. During the class, students will hold poses from one to five minutes. Ann also encourages the use of props such as blankets, bolsters, straps and blocks to help students relax into the poses. The class is slow-paced, peaceful and relaxing. We focus on full and controlled breathing to still the mind, hold the pose and to surrender into the pose. This class is specifically designed to help athletes avoid injuries caused by strong, tight muscles by relaxing the muscles and increase performance through improved range of motion.

Great! You will love this class. The slow pace, hands-on guidance and long hold times will give you time to learn more about the poses while also improving your overall flexibility.
